Steering Committee

An EU-MEDIN Steering Committee of representative thematic as well as horizontal areas was nominated. The multiple aims of the EU-MEDIN Steering Committee include:

  • to review and identify European research (FP4 and FP5) projects and datasets contributing to MEDIN objectives, and to encourage that their deliverables and final reports be made available to the research community (via a EU-MEDIN internet site);
  • to define further research activities (including common projects, activities, workshops, conferences) of the EU within the scope of MEDIN;
  • to readdress the EU component of the MEDIN website (via an Accompanying Measure proposal);
  • to discuss the possibility of producing an EU-MEDIN newsletter for general circulation (via an Accompanying Measure proposal);
  • to explore the relationship with GDIN-International.
The establishment of three ad hoc groups was envisioned. These groups would have the task of producing feasibility studies to:

  • identify stakeholders and draft a business case to ensure the long-term maintenance of EU-MEDIN;
  • explore database requirements and standards; and
  • propose a virtual framework to house the EU-MEDIN initiative and via which deliverables and information may be disseminated.
The composition of the Sterring Committee is as follows:
